Day Two,
The First day off and last for a while. We left home port around 1900 and we were underway all night arriving in Maui at about 0700. The ship dropped gangway at about 0745 and I was on land around 0845 before I left I decided to take some breakfast and for what it is I don’t really think it’s as bad as soo many say. I do know it will get old but it really is not that bad when it comes to dinner and lunch. Breakfast on the other hand takes some getting used to. The eggs are hit or miss and most everything is the same way for the breakfast buffet. The food is either surprisingly alright or amazingly disappointing. So departing I took a walk around the Maui Mall it’s really not that great but there was a hot spot for wireless so I took advantage. The better mall of Maui is the Queens mall typical with stores like Macy’s. With shoes off my feet I chilled under a large tree and enjoyed the sun and slight breeze it was amazing I must say! From here more walking and relaxing. I ran into my friend Jen randomly around 1145 and we caught a quick bite off ship. Leaving her behind I caught my other new crew members and we left for Lahana or something to that effect. IT was a nice “Beach” town with a Huge Banyan Tree. Very interesting and a great place to enjoy some time in the water..Great fun with my skin burnt and stinging with salt I felt the need to indulge in some Shave Ice. Be it a touristy thing to do or not it made my whole person feel refreshed and ready to finish up the day. Finally after an interesting situation we returned to the ship and readied ourselves for a nice dinner of Sushi and a few beers. A restaurant close to the boat serves ½ price sushi from 2100 until 0230 a great deal for what it was. Perfect. With that taken care of it was time to hit the sack and get ready for the first real day of training..
